When a refugee is new to a country, it is easy to feel lost and confused as they try to find your way through a maze of health services. Our health care system can be quite complex and difficult to navigate even for those who have been living in Canada for many years.
Our team is here to help refugees navigate the healthcare system and to provide them with knowledge, information, and tips in their own language. We offer:
- Home visits to meet you in the comfort of your home to discuss your health needs
- Help you apply for Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP)
- Provide information about different health services that are covered under OHIP and Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP)
- Provide information on the roles of various health care providers
- Refer and connect you to health, social and settlement services that meet your needs
- Advocate on your behalf when needed
- If necessary, accompany you during your first appointment with your primary care provider
Our Multicultural Health Navigators speak a variety of languages, including:
- Arabic
- Dari
- Farsi
- French
- Pashto
