Could you be providing interpretation for your clients?
One of the key challenges when serving newcomers is communicating with them in their own language.
Refugees, in particular, usually have a limited knowledge of English or French.
Ottawa Language Access is here to support service providers who have refugees and immigrants as patients and/or clients. This program offers free language interpretation support to registered programs on request. To qualify programs must be:
- A program that currently receives funding from the Champlain LHIN.
- A program that currently serves immigrants and refugees.
- A program that does not currently have access to interpretation-services funding.(Note, if you receive a budget for interpretation that is insufficient to serve all the clients requiring service your program may still be eligible)
- A program of specialized services in the priority areas of chronic-disease management, mental health and addictions and care of the elderly.
